Everybody knows 420 is the biggest day of the year in cannabis, right? Wrong. This year, Hall of Flowers, the nation’s largest brand expo, blew it out of the water. So how did the holiest of high holidays take a back seat to the brand event people are calling the Cannes of Cannabis? We’ll let the numbers do the talking.

This 420 was the biggest anybody has ever seen, which means dispensaries need to get people in and out faster than ever. With the new Treez mobile intake app, our customers were able to improve intake to checkout time by 20%. The intake app allowed swamped dispensaries to break up their lines into new and existing customers, dramatically reducing the wait for their most loyal patrons while creating a seamless and predictable new customer experience. How did Hall of Flowers best the behemoth that is 420? The answer is the new Treez update – the most powerful version of Treez ever built. Last year, the first ever Hall of Flowers turned heads by featuring the best brands in cannabis. The downside was its famously slow in-house dispensary lines. To make things tougher, attendance more than quadrupled this year! Could Treez and ShowGrow turn a potential quagmire into an opportunity?

Unlike last year, the long lines moved quickly and efficiently. The many hour-long waits of 2018 were drastically reduced, even though lines stretched across the exhibition hall with 4x as many customers. By combining ShowGrow’s dispensary expertise with Treez’s inventory management, customer intake, seamless checkout processes and completely reimagined interface for budtenders, Treez and ShowGrow processed more items and customers than any dispensary, not just on 4/20 weekend but in US cannabis history.

At full retail value, this added up to $2 million in revenue over 2 days, making Hall of Flowers the cannabis industry’s biggest event yet.

But that's not all we learned. From a product type perspective, brands showed that cartridges are their future focus, accounting for 27% of all products sold (compared to 17% on 4/20). However, on the highest of holidays, flower reigned supreme, accounting for 27% of all products sold (compared to 18% at Hall of Flowers). With this data, we can see not only the present state of the cannabis industry, but where it's headed.
