In the world of eCommerce, there are 3 “golden phases” of the online shopping experience: searching for products, adding items to the cart, and collecting payment at checkout. For Treez eCommerce users, adding items to the cart has always been pretty straightforward, so we focused on revamping the search and payment functionality.
How? Well, we reimagined the tools your customers rely on to return high-quality search results, making them more granular and all-encompassing. We also rethought ways to make checkout safer (read: sanitary) and more seamless than cash-only transactions.
Enhanced Search & Filter
When executed properly, product search is a powerful (and passive) tool that helps you sell more without any extra effort. Not only does it help shoppers find exactly what they’re looking for, but it also exposes them to a variety of other products that fit their criteria.
With this in mind, we’ve introduced a brand new filter drawer that offers greater granularity when it comes to product search. In addition to searching by category, classification (eg. Sativa, CBD, Indica), and price, shoppers can also hone in on products faster by leveraging subtype, potency, flavor, effect, and product attribute (eg. vegan, organic, sun-grown) filters as well. Beyond the enhanced search parameters, we’ve also updated the placement of the search interface, so customers are able to view the menu and refine their search on the fly.
In the COVID era, there are few things as important as low-touch exchanges and sanitary transactions — and there are few things as unsanitary as cash. To reduce your reliance on paper money and protect customers & staff, we’ve developed a completely touchless checkout experience. Yep, that’s right — completely touchless.
By coupling our new digital receipts functionality — where patrons can opt to receive SMS or email receipts over paper ones — with our recently launched and fully-integrated One-Click Digital Payments, you can facilitate safer transactions with the ultimate 1-2 punch. Not to mention, providing a more modern, environmentally-friendly, and streamlined eCommerce experience will motivate your customers to keep coming back for more.
Stretch Your Marketing Dollars Further with Dynamic URLs
People love promotions, and why wouldn’t they? Not only do they save customers time and money, but they also help retailers move inventory more strategically, drive traffic at key times, and increase loyalty & retention. Whether you manage your marketing through a 3rd party platform, like SpringBig, or otherwise, the efficacy of your program relies on recipients seeing exactly what you want, when you want them to see it.
Since the outbound promotional strategy of many Treez retailers rests on the ability to link customers directly to distinct product listings or to a group of products (eg. specific brands or subtypes), we’ve refreshed the way our eCommerce URLs store information. From here on out, our menu URLs will be dynamic, meaning, they’ll store whatever search criteria you have set at the time. This nearly invisible change has a major impact on your ability to target your marketing initiatives and ensure your customers are seeing the exact view of your choosing — no matter how broad or specific it may be.
Display More Products with Customizable Views on Mobile
Shopping is a visual experience, but also a tactile one, especially in the cannabis space. Robust product descriptions and beautiful imagery will increase the chances of purchase (here’s looking at your BrandTreez), but with a diverse customer base comes diverse menu preferences. Some folks favor viewing a greater number of products at once, while others appreciate being able to focus on only one item at a time. In short, there is no one-size-fits-all approach.
Since people appreciate a more personalized online shopping experience, our updated mobile menu UI takes this into account by letting users choose their own adventure! With the tap of a button, shoppers can toggle between a list view, letting them focus on one beautiful product listing at a time, versus a grid view, which displays 4x the number of products at once.
Automate Compliance to Alleviate Stress
Last, but certainly not least, is a feature we designed exclusively for our dispensary friends out in Michigan. As local operators know, state regulations prevent customers from purchasing both medical and recreational inventory in the same transaction. Instead, products associated with each inventory type must be rung up separately. Since customers are not likely to be clued in to the compliance nuances of the state, we’ve baked a few automatic safeguards into the menu that will be released in the coming weeks.
When this feature launches, not only will medical and recreational inventory be displayed on separate tabs within Treez eCommerce (in MI-only), but as soon as shoppers attempt to commingle different inventory types in the cart, Treez will jump into action — preventing them from doing so and offering to start a new shopping cart on their behalf. While the regulations may not be ideal for retailers or shoppers, at least Michigan operators running on Treez can rest easy knowing that we’ve got their point of sale compliance covered.
